Protecting Soil Carbon Depends on Pore Characteristics

Using X-ray images, researchers determined locations and sizes of particulate organic matter (POM) fragments within the intact soil samples, the pore characteristics associated with POM, and the changes in POM and pore characteristics that took place during the incubation.
