On June 16 and 17, 2010, BioCARS conducted two half-day experiments with total of 13 students from the National School on Neutron and X-ray Scattering. Instructors Irina Koshelev and Vukica Srajer demonstrated time-resolved macromolecular crystallography using photoactive yellow protein crystals, as well as Laue data processing using the program Precognition. The two-week-long school is held annually at the Advanced Photon Source, Argonne National Laboratory and the Spallation Neutron Source, Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Featuring lectures, tutorials, and hands-on experience, the school trains graduate students on the utilization of major neutron and x-ray facilities.
